News from the Board
New Board Member: Triston McLaughlin, Golden Gate Heights resident for 11 years has joined our board. She will also be editing the newsletter and website. She comes to us with experience as a volunteer at her daughter’s schools, St. Gabriela and Saint Ignatius. Her husband, John, is a contractor, daughter Erin is in college in NYC and daughter Cara is a senior at SI. Triston is very excited to be part of the GGHNA and loves the neighborhood. She has been involved in local political campaigns and numerous causes.
Fountain Fund: Golden Gate Heights Park Fountain Fund: Things are moving along very nicely. Supervisor Sean Elsbernd helped persuade Rec and Park to donate the cost of the labor to install the fountain, which totals close to $25,000. We want to thank the GGHNA members and park users who have contributed $15,000 to the project. Your contributions will pay for the drinking fountain itself, and other non-labor costs. First up is installation of a water meter by the PUC, which should happen sometime this fall.
Lake Merced Task Force: Changes are happening in that area as well. It seems the Pacific Rowing Club has changed their position and is now more in line with the PUC. The PRC has concluded that the skeet shooting at the Rod and Gun Club should cease. At this point, it appears that Saint Ignatius has pulled tout of the project, as the PUC does not want private fundraising to be done, the reasons, they say, is that private funds would increase the expense, the SI fundraising might have mitigated any expense increases and raised more money. Will keep you posted, but as of now, it looks like the project is now years away.
Sava Pool: Word is that the pool should be done between Thanksgiving and the New Year!!!
JP Murphy: That project is delayed once again. It was supposed to be open a month ago, but alas, it looks like it will open next month. Cross your fingers!!
16th Avenue Stairs: “No Tour Bus” signs will be put in very few weeks, so that should help the congestion in the area. (See article regarding celebration.)
19th Avenue:
Speed limit has been lowered to 30 miles per hour, so be careful!! More details
for changes to 19th Avenue coming next month.
